.The Annual General Meeting will elect a President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Junior Organiser representative with a term of office of one year. These persons will serve as the League Committee and be responsible for the day to day running of the League.
Each club will send to the Treasurer a completed registration/invoice form (this can be found in the information section of the website) together with the annual fee of £90 for full membership. From 2025 clubs can either one or all competitons, entry fees are as follows for individual events - League £45, Knockout £35, Jamboree £30.
Closing date is beginning of the year.
A Junior must be a member of the club for whom they are playing and be under 18 on the 1st January of the year that the event is played. Players, who are members of more than one of the clubs within the league, may only play for their nominated club. Once a Junior has played a game for one club, s/he cannot play for another club during that season unless an exemption to that rule is granted by the League Committee.
It is the responsibility of the player and the Junior Organiser to ensure that the players play off the correct handicap and to inform the host club before play commences.
Caddies are not permitted. Please see the Code of Conduct for spectators which is on the website under the heading Parents in the menu.
Players may use R & A approved distance measuring devices providing it is not designed to gauge or measure other conditions e.g. wind speed, gradient etc.
It is imperative that a responsible adult accompanies the team and remains at the host club during ALL league events. There may be some limited tee times available for Junior Organisers and their helpers but the host club needs to be notified well in advance
Clubs can enter multiple teams into the competitions, but these teams can not share players. Once a player has been nominated to represent the club for one team, they can not play in a clubs additional team. This will be strictly monitored by the committee and any club found to be inviolation of this rule will forfeit the match.
LEAGUE MATCHES
The list of the host clubs for League Matches will be on the website. In 2025 they are again divided into North and South Divisions
The maximum number of players is 5 per club and there will be 3 categories. Category 1 HI Up to 18.4 Category 2 for handicaps 18.5 – 36.4, Category 3 for handicaps 36.5-54 (who will play 9 holes)
The format is a Stableford. Prizes will be a glass trophy to the winner and medals for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th places for each category dependant on number of players. Points awarded - see Rules document for details, this can be found in the information section of the website.
The 18 hole and 9 hole competitions will be played from the tees recommended by the host club. The handicap allowance will be 95% in accordance with WHS. As these are mixed tee events, there will be adjustments made to course/playing handicaps by Intelligent golf /Club V1 when the competition is set up by the Host Organiser.
Each club must provide names, WHS Handicap Index and CDH numbers to the host club at least a week before the games. There will be prize giving after each category so that players won’t have to wait until the end of the day.
The final will be played on a neutral course between the winning club from each division with 5 players all playing 18 holes. Points to be awarded: 12 for the winner, 9, 8, 7, etc. Club with most points will win the overall League Shield and will receive a cheque. The engraving of the shield is the winning club’s responsibility.
JAMBOREE DAY
Teams of 4 players will compete in an 18 hole Stableford format. Names, WHS handicap index and CDH numbers to be sent to the host cub at least a week before the event. The handicap allowance will be 95% in accordance with WHS. As these are mixed tee events, there will be adjustments made to course/playing handicaps by Intelligent golf /Club V1 when the competition is set up by the Host Organiser.
A start sheet will be published a week beforehand.
The 18 hole competition will be played from the tees recommended by the host club. The handicap allowance will be 95% in accordance with WHS. The winning team will be the club with the highest total from the best 3 out of 4 scores. In the event of a tie, the fourth card will be used. Should the scores still be tied, count back will apply using the back 9/6/3 holes of the best 3 cards. The winning club receives the Salver and are responsible for it being engraved.
The host club is not responsible for providing refreshments although it might be useful to have a Junior Menu available on the day.
KNOCKOUT CUP
A team comprises 3 juniors. The maximum Handicap Index a player may play off is 28.4 for boys and 36.4 for girls).
The 18-hole matches will be played from the tees recommended by the host club. As these are mixed tee events, there will be adjustments made to course/playing handicaps by Intelligent golf /Club V1 when the competition is set up by the Host Organiser.
Singles matches will be played to a conclusion, using sudden death if necessary, with one point being awarded to each team. A match may not be conceded. The overall winners receive the Knockout Putter and are responsible for the engraving.
The draw will be made by the Committee. The home team must provide 3 dates, one weekday and two weekend days. These must not be consecutive days. The visitors are required to accept one of the three dates offered. The dates must give at least two weeks prior notice. Failure to comply with this may mean that the club will be disqualified.
The home team will offer a simple meal to the teams.
The home team is responsible for sending the results to the Secretary on the day.
The final will be played at a neutral course.
Any requests for adjustment to each round completition dates can only be agreed and approved by the committee, if you require an extention to any deadline then please contact the committee via league@somersetjuniorsgolfleague.co.uk as soon as possible to allow for the committee to discuss the request. The committee's decission will be final.
